Gadsden mayor's goals include more development, jobs

Gadsden Mayor Sherman Guyton said his wish list for 2012 includes more industrial and commercial announcements.

Guyton said more jobs are needed, and he?d like to see more industries locating on city-owned property on Airport Road.

He said the new instrument landing system and other improvements at the Northeast Alabama Regional Airport will help the area, as will a new fire station near the airport.

Guyton also is hopeful for additional retail expansion in Gadsden, in addition to the proposed development at River Trace Golf Course.

Guyton pointed out that Gadsden already is a regional center for medical services with Riverview Regional Medical Center and Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
